  A reservation for a large party was made well in advance and they were ill prepared. It seemed the bartender was handling all the tables in the front, our reservation, and still had a full bar to attend to. Orders were screwed up and took forever to get it because it trickled out the kitchen and the food was okay at best. We were told they only had one chef which explained a lot. I don't blame the staff but management. They needed at least two chefs in the kitchen and two servers to just handle our reservation, not just the bar tender handling the whole front of the house (seems like a popular watering hole). I'm betting our experience and food would be completely satisfactory if they had the proper staffing.

  We made our trek to the Barn after hearing about the infamous "Game Dinner" from a friend. As folklore would have it, once per year (for the past 25 it ends up), some guys in this small town host a dinner where patrons bring different types of meat. As we may as well be a pack of roving T-Rexes, we came on up for the meat-ivities.
  
  The inside is a standard bar with a good sized dining area in the back of the place. This is where they set up the eventual magic. Bar is a 360 one in the middle of the room and they got plenty of cold beers. Not a place to come if you want a farmhouse saison, but one that's great for variations of Budweiser on a hot day. They know the clientele, so no sense in resisting it!
  
  For the game dinner, appetizers, which included deer, rabbit, bacon wrapped deer, turkey, and beef were served outside off a huge smoker/grill that appeared to be towed behind a truck - Boss. There was an additional area for obtaining cold Miller Ultra (because apparently they dislike carbs here) or Busch Light. Inside, in the dining room, they set up buffet style and boy was it a feast! The list of animals was delicious, vast and delicious - it included:
  
  - Bear swiss steak
  - Elk loaf
  - Deer stroganoff
  - Rabbit stuffing
  - Whole rabbit
  - Deer ribs
  - Pheasant casserole
  - Turkey
  - Beef
  - Chicken
  
  The whole thing was $15 a person with the proceeds going towards charities in town. All I can say is wow and why isn't this done a lot more places. A long way up, but for this event, it's totally worth the drive!
